Other addictions
In addition to the main types of addiction as described above, addictive behaviour can take on many forms. People get hooked on all kinds of things, some innocuous, others more harmful, and the addictive mind is surprisingly inventive. Some examples from the seemingly inexhaustible array are:
- Gaming addiction
- Stock exchange speculation addiction
- Addiction to cosmetic surgery and other corrective procedures
- Shopping addiction
- Nasal spray addiction
- Lip balm addition
- Chocolate addiction (chocolatitus)
- Liquorice addiction

Our lives would be difficult to imagine without some form of addictive behaviour, depending on the situation in which you find yourself, on the people with whom you are associated, and on the life choices you make. You will always be faced with some form of behaviour that might be characterised as addictive. You will learn to identify such obsessive, compulsive, immoderate or even excessive behaviour. Eventually, you will also see that the consequences of even these minor indulgences grow worse until they disrupt your normal life so badly that the situation cannot go on. It then becomes a matter of urgency to seek help, because even these relatively minor ‘bad habits’ will benefit greatly from a professional approach. A treatment course can be prescribed specifically designed to turn the addictive personality away from the road to perdition that is addiction.
